Market Research Accompanied Shops & Intercepts

Accompanied shops or intercepts are a highly effective method of market research analysis and helps to understand the consumer's buying behaviour.

Accompanied shops are as described, involving a researcher accompanying a consumer on their shop in-store. This allows the researcher to experience first-had as to how and why a person shops in a particular way. Intercepts are slightly different in that the consumer is not pre-recruited and is instead recruited on-the-spot at the store. Intercepts are usually only 10-15 minutes in duration as opposed to 45-60 minutes for a pre-recruited accompanied shop.

Key advantages are that the researcher will observe the products the consumer is drawn to, how they navigate the store, how they observe and interact with promotions, how the use the staff at the store and much more.
